Silky anteaters occur from southern Mexico to Bolivia, and are not uncommon, but are very rarely seen. They are the smallest of the three anteaters at about 150 to 350 grams. They are slow-moving, arboreal and nocturnal. The front feet have one large and one tiny thin claw, which are used to slit open ant nests in thin branches and lianas. The hind feet are very flexible, with the toes doubling back on the heel for grasping. More information is available at Wikipedia. These videos were featured on Cute Overload in August 2008.
